The Torkwase Journal of Agricultural Research is a scholarly, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing high-quality, impactful research at the intersection of agricultural studies Our core mission is to serve as the premier platform for studies that contribute to the understanding and development of these fields within Nigeria.
Geographical Focus and Author Criteria (Strict Policy)
The geographical scope of the Torkwase Journal of Agricultural Research is strictly Nigeria. To foster indigenous research, contribute directly to local scholarship and policy, and ensure strict compliance with indexing criteria (such as those for Scopus and Web of Science), we require all authors to demonstrate a direct link to the Nigerian academic community.
Therefore, only submissions where all authors, regardless of their position (first author, corresponding author, or co-author), hold a verifiable primary affiliation with a Nigerian institution at the time of submission will be considered for publication.
Content Scope
The Torkwase Journal of Agricultural Research (TOJAR) is interested in both theoretical and empirical manuscripts that address challenges, opportunities, and trends across the agricultural landscape. The geographical scope of this journal is Nigeria; therefore, only submissions from Nigerian authors are considered for publication.
We welcome research across the following core areas:
Crop and Soil Sciences
- Crop Science: Research covering crop protection, horticulture, environmental sciences, plant breeding and genetics, agronomy, agribusiness, and advanced crop production.
- Soil Science: Studies focusing on soil survey, soil chemistry, soil physics, pedology, soil fertility, soil quality and water, and soil conservation.
Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics
- Food Science and Technology: Focused on food science, food analysis, food policy, nutrition, food safety, sensory evaluation, and food marketing.
- Nutrition and Dietetics: Interested in community nutrition, paediatric nutrition, public health nutrition, food service management, and nutrition education.
Animal Science and Engineering
- Animal Science: Manuscripts focusing on animal behaviour and welfare, animal nutrition, and livestock production.
- Agricultural Engineering: Research on agricultural structures, agricultural machinery and machinery design, soil and water engineering, process engineering, environmental engineering, postharvest technology, and bio-engineering.
Economics, Extension, and Agribusiness
- Agricultural Economics: Focused on environmental economics, agricultural policy, livestock economics, agricultural finance, farm management, and agricultural marketing.
- Agricultural Extension: Manuscripts focusing on agricultural practices, sustainability, agribusiness, human resource empowerment, and innovative agricultural awareness programmes.
Overall Aim
The overall aim of the Torkwase Journal of Agricultural Research is to publish original studies that are relevant, immediately useful, and actionable for scholars and practitioners within the field of agriculture in Nigeria.
